Freedivng and spearfishing are two of the fastest growing areas in diving and aquatic recreation. The core concept is learning to trigger the mammalian diving reflex that is in all of us while breathing correctly and using proper physical technique. FII is the leading freediving training organization in the world and the best choice for quality information and safe training.
Extend your Bottom Time - The Secrets to Longer Dives

The Holy Grail of recreational diving, the most sought after badge of recognition by which one's skill is measured is excellent air consumption. The skills associated with good buoyancy are simple and can be mastered by many in a short time, but getting the most time out of a tank of gas is the result of simultaneously improving several different things and those secrets will be revealed in one evening and an optional pool session by our guest and celebrity Instructor, Dan Silveira, on separate evenings in both Dallas and Fort Worth. Dan has been freediving since the age of seven and is an FII Freediving and PADI scuba instructor, a world class spearfisherman with too many titles to list here and a sponsored athlete by OMER Diving. The cost of this informational seminar is only $30 and it will be the best $30 you ever spent on diving training! Among the topics covered will be advanced relaxation and breathing techniques from yoga and freediving, optimimizing the configuration of your equipment and unlocking the mammalian diving reflex that is in all of us to safely lower your heart rate and metabolic rate so your body needs less oxygen. This class will benefit almost any diver and Dan's enthusiasm is contagious! Join us for this great event.

June 1-3, Fort Worth Location and Reveille Peak Ranch

Lone Star Scuba is proud to introduce to North Texas freediving certification training from Martin Stepanek's Freediving Instructors International which begins with the Level 1 Certification. Let us show you how to explore the beauty of the undersea world the way nature intended: free and unencumbered by heavy equipment. Experience the thrill of freediving! It's like no other sport in the world and now you can learn freediving using the proven techniques and safety procedures developed by 13-time world record holder and freediving pioneer, Martin Stepanek.

Freediving is great for people of all ages and all skill levels. Proper training to safely mastering freediving. In just a few days, our F.I.I. instructor and champion spearfisherman, Dan Silveira, will teach you to play, hunt or just explore underwater will skill and confidence, regardless of your age or skill level. We are all about simply enjoying the water and what exists below it's surface, with or without scuba. Here is an opportunity to learn to have fun underwater by letting your mind and body replace heavy, bulky scuba. Proper freediving instruction teaches you how to unlock the mammalian diving reflex that all of us possess, along with porpoises and whales, which lowers your body's metabolic rate to require less oxygen and also teaches advanced breathing techniques to safely store more oxygen in your tissues and blood. We are not bragging when we state that you will be amazed at what you can learn to do. To prove this point, Martin and Dan recently selected a member from the audience at the 2011 DEMA Show at random and coached him for only thirty minutes. At the end of the thirty minutes, with no previous experience, that person did a static breath hold for five minutes. Almost anyone can be taught to hold their breath for three minutes - we are not kidding!

Freediving Offers:

Freedom to Dive Deeper and Longer without Bulky Equipment

Amazing Marine Life Interaction (No Bubbles to Scare Fish)

Better Understanding of Diving Physiology

A Great Cross-Training Tool for SCUBA

This short course, offered on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday (inclusive), June 1-3, provides students the knowledge and confidence to be able to free dive to depths up to 66 feet/20 meters, although completing a dive to 66 feet is not a required. The open water dives will be conducted at Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet, Texas.
