ADVANCED NITROX DIVER

Class / Course / Certification

(Also known as Technical Nitrox)

OVERVIEW

The TDI ( Technical Diving International ) Advanced Nitrox Diver course is to provide the basic Nitrox certified diver with the skills and knowledge needed to minimize the risks of utilizing optimal breathing gas EANx mixtures of 21% through 100% (oxygen) for dives to a depth of 150 fsw (46 msw) not requiring stage decompression. (This course may be combined with the Decompression Techniques Diver Course. The resulting course would require more dives for certification.) .

QUALIFICATIONS OF GRADUATES

Upon successful completion of this course, graduates are considered competent to utilize nitrox mixtures 21% through 100% (oxygen) without direct supervision provided the diving activities and the areas dived approximate those of training.

STUDENT PRE-REQUISITES

A. Minimum age of 15 (if this course is taught in conjunction with the TDI Decompression Procedures Course, then a minimum age of 18 applies)
B. Minimum certification of TDI Nitrox Diver (or equivalent)
C. Proof of 25 logged open water dives in the environment in which the course is being presented

REQUIRED COURSE MINIMUMS

A. Classroom / Briefing Hours - 6 (estimated)
B. Openwater Dives - 4 (with a minimum accumulated bottom time of 100 minutes).

If Advanced Nitrox is taught in conjunction with Decompression Procedures only a total of six (6) dives are required with a maximum depth of forty five (45) meters / one hundred fifty (150) feet.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

The following equipment is the minimum required for each student
A. Altemative second stage octopus attached to a primary regulator or a redundant scuba unit (13 Cu. ft. minimum)
B. A submersible pressure gauge
C. Depth gauge and automatic bottom timer and/or dive computer
D. Buoyancy Compensator with power inflator
E. Exposure suit adequate for the openwater environment
F. Tank and Regulator properly labeled and cleaned as required for EAN mixtures
G. Access to oxygen analyzer (Instructor may supply)

Required Skill Performance and Graduation Requirements

In order to complete this course, students must:

     1. Satisfactorily complete the Trimix Course written examination.   
     2. Complete all open water requirements safely and efficiently.   
     3.	Demonstrate mature, sound judgment concerning dive planning and execution.
